Do you know what the format for the tests/exam was? And what was the assignment about?

This course is great and I really suggest it as an elective! It's interesting and focuses more on artistic techniques and the artistic process, rather than the narrative of famous pieces (that can be found in Art Hist 1AA3). For this class I had Dr. Davies and everything he lectured about was testable. The midterm consisted on defintions and a few simple essay questions. The final exam was more involved - there were defintions again and then a formal essay question. For me, this questions was about Roman architecture. In the past it has also been about the process of sculpting.

I truly wish I took this during the year. I took this course in the summer. Truly recommend it because it is such an interesting course and if you are into writing essays and pure memorization, this course is for you.

is this a bird course that anyone could take with no prior knowledge about art or for one that is interested about the subject?

Should I buy the textbook for this course?
Or is it possible to do without the textbook and rely on lecture notes?
