Art History Dodged Another Bullet...for now
From MSU News:
At the latest meeting of the University Senate, held on the afternoon of May 12th, the Art History program stayed alive, despite the issue of closure coming forth yet again. A motion to reconsider the April Senate decision to leave the program open was presented, and again did not meet the necessary two-thirds majority needed to pass.
In attendance was MSU President Mary Koziol who stated, “Student consultation on this decision had not been carried out from the beginning. Students were consulted at too late a time in the process to make any real impact.” The MSU, in co-operation with Art History students have consistently articulated that student consultation should be a mandatory component of program closers. So far, the University Senate has agreed with this sentiment. The issue of closing Art History cannot make the Senate agenda again until the beginning of September.
