Average Utility bills
hey guys so I am just curious as to what people who are living off-campus are paying on average for their Horizons' utility bill just to get a sense of the average prices now. I'll start, I just got the bill for September & October and the price per person that we have to pay is $50.27 and we are a 6 person house. What about you?

I haven't seen the bill from this year for my house, but last year the bill was $78.90 per person in a house with 6 people. This was in a house with leaky pipes and toilets (that were fixed after this). We had air conditioning running at first and then we had several girls that liked to crank the heat up. It was also cooler than this at this time last year (I think) so that would increase the bill.

sounds about right

I live in a house with 5 people and we pay about $65 - $75 every 2 months for utilities. so it's normally under $350, and not higher than $400.

It's just $38.41 for my place, and that's split between six people.

Haha. I have utilities included it rocks!

But my freind actually recently got like $1000 bill. Apparently the guys in the basement didn't bother to tell the landlord the toilet kept leaking... how dumb can you be?? Sad part is, they have to pay so its like 142 per person! woah.

How much does everyone pay for about a year in a house of 5?

It definitely depends on the people and the months. At our house, if you're not living here over the summer, we don't make you pay utilities (because that's just silly), so that is one factor.

The Jan/Feb bill is always the highest because it's the coldest, and everyone is home, whereas we're turning everything way down for the Christmas break. the spring time bills are lower too, because you don't need heat / AC

if you take the high end and say $75 /bill, you're looking at $450 for an entire year. But that's on the super high end, and not every bill will be crazy high. I budget about $40/mth for utilities, or $350 for the entire school year

I just took a look and my Horizons bill (electricty and water was like 200), is that odd?

Also my landlord asked for 650 for the entire year... :S
He gave us a hard time when we asked for the bills, but after I looked 650 seems reasonable... maybe?

$5 a month is huge. on top of increased cell prices, an everything else. $5/month is an extra $60 a year for students already paying huge tuition costs and rentals.

As well, taxing people and taking money away from citizens and giving money so citizens will continue to get paid are two different things. I don't like the bailout one bit, let the companies who fail sink, and have people lose their jobs, thats the economy for yeah. But it was a positive move to save peoples livelihood which will be paid back so really its a Zero-cost venture.

Your arguement is also a very horrible one. Instead of attacking my arguement and proving why $5 is not a bad thing, you switch subjects which have nothing to do.

Obama is more conservative than the "conservatives" in Canada.

Not at ALL true.

That's a nice bit of BS rhetoric by leftist Canadian parties. Obama is more leftist on his policies that the Liberal Party.
