Best area code to call Toronto/Brampton from Mac
Hi, I curently don't have a cell phone but I'm about to get one and I've heard a lot about getting an oakville number if I wanna call toronto/brampton alot. Can someone suggest the best area code to have if I want to have local calls in hamilton and to brampton/Toronto. Thankk yaa  |

Well, I'm pretty sure that Oakville has both Hamilton and Toronto as long distance, haha

I have an oakville number and this is how it works:
If you are in Oakville, you can call Toronto and Hamilton locally.
If you are in Hamilton, you can call Oakville locally - toronto is long distance.
If you are in Toronto, you can call Oakville locally - hamilton is long distance.
So basically, it goes Hamilton-Oakville-Toronto. If the "-" connect, you can call locally.

If you live in toronto it doesnt really matter what # you get. But if you live in oakville, its win-win

Wind ftw...an entire province of local zone, whether you make calls from Toronto or Hamilton.

They get a lot of dropped calls and their coverage sucks. I say go with ChatR instead... Rogers > Bell in my opinion.

^^ ya area codes dont matter with WIND (for any plan), as long as your in their zone, which includes mac an (i think) brampton. Just make sure you get decent reception where you live. Reception is decent at mac.

Hmm...I haven't had much trouble with dropped calls but I will admit their coverage area east of Hamilton does kind of suck right now.
In the city it's fine though. Plus they have a really cheap Android phone now + porting credit lol

Well, I don't have any experience with Wind. I just hear about calls being dropped all the time. ChatR has almost identical plans to Wind but their coverage is better and I haven't heard that much about dropped calls.
But yeah, ChatR doesn't have data... so if that's something you need then Wind is the cheapest.

A lot of people use data with their plans now but personally I don't believe it to be a necessity as the entire campus is wifi friendly and I'm sure most student housing has internet as well.
Does anyone know whether ChatR allows people to bring unlocked phones to their network or do you have to buy one of theirs?

ChatR uses SIM cards if that's what you are asking for. Shouldn't you be able to use an unlocked phone with the SIM card that they provide you? I thought that's how unlocked phones work, they can use any SIM card...
