No, you most likely won't get a retention plan unless you've been with the service for a year.

Probably wont get the best plan, but you can probably get them to match another Carrier's plan and maybe throw in 1 bonus. Worth a shot.

A lot of carriers have pretty sweet student deals if you ask for them.

Rogers will give students their Unlimited Evenings starting at 6 pm rather than 7 pm for free instead of the early evening fee they usually charge.

Also the CSR said it was a student thing but I think it was a retention thing but she gave us the unlimited texting option for free as well.

So basically one is $7 and one is $10 and on our bill it shows -$7 and -$10 at the bottom so we get $17 a month off our bill instead of paying for those add-ons to our plan.

That makes our bill just $15 a month each, all we had to do was provide her a student number and tell them what school. They have codes for schools in their system and they just verify that you're a student I guess and you're good to go with the discounts.

Other carriers might do this as well but I was checking around and I noticed their student plans don't offer as many features as Rogers for the same price. For example most companies have the $50 dollar student plan for a smartphone or whatever but none offer as many features as Rogers does with theirs.

Looked at a plan with comparable features to the $45 I pay now and I'm hitting $60. And still can't quite call anybody when I'm in Hamilton with a 647 number, I can have only 5.

I'm not trying to be a hard sell here, but I just can't see the benefits.

Then I guess Telus wouldn't best suit your needs. I personally do not need long distance, so I got a pretty rocking plan with them. My initial plan was EPP 17.30, which was amazing on its own

the good part with the Android phone is that there's a possibility of auto-logging to Mac's wifi by using a script

ah the automation possibilities of a linux based phone................ ..
