Best gift you've gotten?
Just taking a random survey....what are some of the best gifts you've gotten, and why are they so awesome?

My parents bought me a Gibson Les Paul guitar on my 19th birthday.
I became a "collector" since then and now have nearly a dozen.

I think that the proper use of capitalization and punctuation marks are part of proper grammar, are they not?

Starting when we were about 12, my family stopped giving gifts to the kids and just started giving money. It was nice at first but now I really miss the excitement of opening a present.

Wow, I wish my mom would pick up that mindset. She keeps asking me what I want and I say, word for word, "money for food," and she bitches me out and says she wants something she can wrap.
Personally, I'd like a real meal but you know... it's all about being mom of the year in front of the family.

Look up the past particles of "to get". "Gotten" is a perfectly valid word.
Back on topic....Cobra Terrordrome, Christmas '86. I was at my Grandmas for Christmas with my folks, and when we came home it was there, in front of the tree. It totally restored an 8 year old's faith in Santa.

Definitely had to look that up. (The gift, not 'gotten')

My mom's the same way. she refuses to give me money, no matter what I need it for. She'll usually throw in a gift card as a present, but that's the closest she'll go.
