Check the bio dept website. Generally TA applications start in the academic year prior, but every dept is different. You probably won't get hired as a second-year, though. Undergrad TAs are almost exclusively 3rd and 4th years. There should be more info on the bio website, or you can contact Lori Goff (who I believe is the instructional assistant for that course) for more information so you know when you should apply for next year.

ohh I thought you meant for this year, sorry (you said you're in second year, so that's what I went with).

Coincidentally, I just ran into a friend (about half an hour ago, actually) who checked out the application process to be a first-year bio TA this year. He said that for 1M03 you need a minimum of two other ecology-related courses, and for 1A03 you need a minimum of two other cell bio-related courses. I'm not sure if genetics counts for that or not, but Bio 2B03 definitely would. For 1M03, it would be bio 2F03 and something else (not sure what lol...maybe population ecology or something?)

All departments and courses have different rules regarding TAs...just because your friends are TAs for other courses, that has no effect on you being a bio TA. If all your friends were TAing bio 1A03/1M03, then that would be relevant, but otherwise it doesn't matter.
