This has got to be the most boring course I've ever taken at Mac.....What say you?

Lol yes. But I have another exam tomorrow so I'm not really studying ecology yet.

Im bored out of my mind this is the worst course ever

this course is making me hate ecology with passion

hahaha I know; I recently started reading the book as the slides are just copy/pasted from there and it makes more sense that way anyway...btw do you or anyone else know how many or what kind of qsns might appear from the insect lectures?

There's an insane amount of info in this course
-_-

80% is common sense but then 20% is like weird, arbitrary definitions/rules/equations...
And the worst part is "everything is testable" but that doesn't really help us...like the insect and guest lecture stuff...she could ask 50 questions about that or 1 question. And same with the textbook stuff and DVD stuff.

On the avenue homepage it says that the insect questions are going to be general. Like: the difference between the bodies of spiders and insects, what's unique about Lepidoptera, etc.
Just read the summary he posted about arthropods on the homepage.

But yeah, studying for this course is really boring right now. I've also heard that Cartwright's tests are harder than Chow-Fraser's (last year's prof). So I'm thinking this year's exam will probably be tougher as well.

As much as I love ecology, I feel like there's an overload of material. Textbook (which I don't think I'll get around to reading), guest lecturers, CD material... it's alot. I'm pretty sure a good portion of the class also has the orgo exam.. which is the night before.

This is gonna be an all nighter for me ...

how much of the pre midterm stuff do u think is going to be on the exam?
there is already so much info just for the 2nd half
this exam should not be cumulative

I'm going over the second half of the course right now. I'm thinking I'll just skim the stuff before the midterm. There's not much time...

I made a note that we don't have to know the complex one on slide 29 ch 12. Don't know about any others.

I'm in my 4th year, and the amount of material in this class is retarded.
There's entirely way too many slides. Why is behavioural ecology I only 10 slides, while community is 73? Biomes was 85 slides and the midterm only had like 2 questions on it.

Uneven distribution is hilarious, but whatever.

Does anyone know if the Turtles guest lecture is also testable? Robert's lecture?

It's mind numbing to study this.

Yeah I think the turtles lecture, the pike lecture and the URBAN lecture are all testable material. It's ridiculous some of these PDFs are well over 30 MB....

doesn't help that I slept through a bunch of classes (IN lecture), so I'll need to somehow piece together what I missed, haha.
seriously though, it was that dry.
I'm just going to brainstorm a bunch of major testable themes and try to make concept maps to help me remember the common facts.

Did you guys also have Marvin Gunderman's "insect" lecture with all the ridiculously fancy stuff about insects, how they mate, their body structures, etc?

Just curious.
