BIO2A03 Textbook?
I'm contemplating whether or not I should buy the BIO2A03 textbook cuz' it's pretty expensive. Titles is selling it for $175 & the majority of the used textbooks are 2 editions old, which the profs aren't recommending that we buy. How useful is the textbook? I saw a few posts where people were saying that the textbook is needed for the labs, but what exactly is it needed for? & in terms of studying for tests / the exam are lecture notes sufficient?

Thanks..

Find people to share the textbook with, and always remember you'll be able to make most of it back by selling it off next year

EDIT: There's always CourseSmart too but remember you can't sell it next year (ebook).

Not really necessary IMO (although note the caveat below)
Dr. McClelland's notes are quite descriptive (had him for 2A03 last year) and Dr. Scott is pretty thorough in his notes as well (had him for half of BIO 3U03).

I had my sister's old edition of the textbook last year and didn't really use it for lecture material. The only time I found it useful was for the labs. If there is something you don't understand or want information on it is helpful to explain the concepts and answer some questions.

That being said, it all depends on how you learn. If you find you usually don't end up doing readings regardless or just look up stuff on the internet you would be much better off buying a used copy or an old edition (if any text at all).

I did really well in the course and never opened the book once. (I had a used copy of the book).
