Biochem 2EE3 Exam
Hello:

I'm taking Biochem 2EE3 in the summer term and I'm going crazy. Considering trivial details seem to be tested moreso than major concepts and there's no way to really test your understanding (i.e. no practice questions), I feel completely overwhelmed and unprepared for this exam. Can anyone give me hints or advice?

Thanks so much!

No former students have any advice? No current students want to complain with me? I feel like all this info is just not sinking in. You just never know what he's gonna ask. I'm scared for tomorrow! :(

You're right. You will never know just what he's asking for. His x y statement questions were pretty painful. My butt still hurts.
They're at about the same difficulty as his midterms, though. If you've been doing well so far, it should be okay. For us it was 40 MC questions . Around half of it was on material after midterm 2.

Exam was not hard. The random details weren't as bad as they were on the midterms, plus it was fairly short (only 40 Q).

Me + a lot of friends got 12 in the course, and we didn't walk in with a large buffer either.

I'm curious as to what/how difficult/random these random details are? Is it something he never spoke about or just something really insignificant that you are asked to remember?

I'm still debating whether to keep this course or just take psych 3AB3 which is offered at the same time... any advice?

He will test information directly taken from his slides such as Q's pertaining to numbers/statistics and key enzymes in a certain reaction..etc... It's pretty much pure memorization so difficulty can only be assessed on how well you can memorize. And I wouldn't call them insignificant because some facts are pretty neat to know.

The types of questions that I remember from that class were ones that did not test your understanding of the course rather than blatant memorization of facts that are useless to enhancing critical thinking.

Example of one question that particulairy irked me: (I can't remember the exact question so I made one up that followed the same idea of the question).

Who discovered the Higgs boson?
a) Peter Higgs
b) Paul Higgs
c) Peter Huggs
d) Paul Huggs

It's not extremely difficult but it doesn't test your understanding of microbiology. And while I may have known the answer because I remembered the scientists last name, it was useless because he decided to give two names with the same last name but switched up the first name... Needless to say I was a tad annoyed...

LOL, you're not the only one freaking out, we'll be fine. Just focus on what you can now and just know what you know well, no point trying to memorize things that you don't know so late.
