Biopsych Program - Requirement Update
If you choose your second year courses or planned your 3rd and 4th year schedule based on the 2010-2011 calender information, the degree audit requirements for the program are slightly different. Here's a list of the changes:

Changes That Do Not Matter As Much:

1. Courses on degree audit Biology Course list, but NOT on calender Biology Course list: All Level II Molecular Biology courses; HTH SCI 2J03, 3K03; PHARMAC 4B03.

2. Courses on degree audit Psychology Lab Course list, but NOT on calender Psychology Lab Course list: PSYCH 3BL3, NEURCOMP 3W03.

Changes That Will Likely Matter:

1. Calender: "6 units from PSYCH 2E03, 2F03, 2H03, 2TT3, which must include three units from PSYCH 2F03 or 2TT3"

Degree Audit: "6 UNITS FROM PSYCH 2E03, 2F03, 2H03, 2TT3" **a max of 3 units can be from Psych 2F03 or 2TT3**

2. Calender: "9 units from Biology Course List which must include at least three units of Level III;
6 units from the Psychology Course List which must include at least three units of Level III or IV;
3 units Level III or IV courses from Biology Course List or Psychology Course List;
24 units of Level III or IV courses from Biology Course List or Psychology Course List, including at least nine units from Biology Course List and nine units from Psychology Course List. One of BIOLOGY 4C09, 4F06, PSYCH 4D09 or 4DD6 must be included."

Degree Audit: 18 UNITS FROM BIOLOGY COURSE LIST, UP TO 6 UNITS CAN BE LEVEL II COURSES;
15 UNITS FROM PSYCHOLOGY COURSE LIST, UP TO 3 UNITS CAN BE LEVEL 2;
9 UNITS FROM BIOLOGY OR PSYCHOLOGY COURSE LIST, INCLUDING 1 COURSE FROM BIOLOGY 4F06, 4C09; PSYCH 4D06, 4D09, 4DD6

What this means for you:

- Now you cannot take PSYCH 2F03 and 2TT3 to fill the "6 units from PSYCH 2E03, 2F03, 2H03, 2TT3, which must include three units from PSYCH 2F03 or 2TT3" requirement.

- More restriction - originally you could take a minimum of 6 bio list courses and 2 psych list courses + 9 credit Psych thesis + 3 x lvl III, IV bio or psych list courses;

or,

a minimum of 3 bio list courses and 5 psych list courses + 9 credit Bio Thesis + 3 x lvl III, IV bio or psych list courses.

Now, you HAVE to take, at minimum, 6 bio list courses, 5 psych list courses, + 9 credit bio or psych thesis (or 6 credit thesis and another course).

The difference may seem minor, but it was enough to mess up the schedule I had planned out, and the level II courses I chose this morning. Now I have to contact McMaster and see which source has the correct requirement list.
