Block Party - Carnival Rides & Fireworks Cancelled Due To Weather - Concert still on
April 8, 2015 3:42 PM
Due to poor weather conditions, including prolonged periods of both freezing and heavy rain throughout today's set-up process, the carnival rides will not be in operation at #MacBlockParty. However, the musical performances, the Last Lecture in Burridge Gym, free food, carnival games, the board games room in MUSC and the coffee house in Bridges are all still in effect.
Due to high winds, forecasted to persist into the evening, the fireworks display has been cancelled. Based on the protocol set by the Fire Marshall's office, the pyrotechnic company contracted for tonight's show has indicated that the display cannot proceed. That being said, Light Up The Night will still feature more than 1000 light bulbs strung across Scholars Rd..
With the chance of thunderstorms in-and-around 10pm, the night's concert schedule has been moved-up slightly. The first band will take the stage at 6:45pm, with headliners USS performing from 8:55pm to 9:45pm.
If a thunderstorm risk presents itself, please do not hesitate to seek shelter. If a thunderstorm does form, stage performances and general operations will cease and wait for conditions to improve. Listen to the general PA announcements for any special instructions.
