Board Games?
I'm generally into every kind of gaming--and after a summer away from my computer and consoles, I can't wait to get back to it! But I also really love board games, and I wondered if there are others at Mac who share this passion? If you do, what types of games do you play (party, strategy, card, cooperative, etc), and do you have any specific titles you enjoy? I'd love to meet up for some gaming fun!

There's actually a Board Game Society at Mac! You can find their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MacBGS/?fref=ts

Chad says thanks to Quiver for this post.

The board game society is looking to expand it's selection of games. I like games like Clue, The Game of Life, Monopoly, Guess Who, Taboo, Scrabble, and a few others that I can't think of.

Yes, there is a games club... one of the exec members is a current MacInsiders Staffer as well, I'm sure she will reply here to give you some details

As Quiver said, there is also a really neat board game cafe downtown. You pay a couple bucks and get to use all the games there while you drink coffees, etc.

I'd be up for a game of whatever down at Gameopolis, I know a few people here and there who like it but not too many.

Hey everyone, I'm actually one of the co-presidents of the McMaster Board Game Society so if you have any questions about it, you can PM me or sarahsullz or join the FB group if you want to stay informed :)

The MGBS is having its second weekly meeting tomorrow night at 6:00 in MUSC on the second floor in front of the main elevators (that's in front of the MSU/SWHAT/SHEC offices, or room 203 if you don' t know) so if you have the time, come drop in for some fun before midterms start! We'll probably be there until about 10:00, so don't worry about being late if you have a 5:30 class. More info can be found here. Hope to see you all there!

As for Gameopolis, it's probably what you expect it to be when you think of a Hamilton-ified Snakes and Lattes. The lighting is a bit more dull and the furniture is a bit less impressive, but it feels a lot more like home than Gameopolis does. The owners are very friendly and you can see how much effort they're putting into the place, so I'd definitely recommend dropping by to support the local community.

edit: woo 999th post, almost at dat 1k
