Would it be better for me to wait until I attend my classes and then go to MSU Undercovers and buy all my books there? Will I be most likely to get the best deals there?

it really depends. b/c the undercovers prices are set by the seller themselves. sometimes htey are pretty cheap, sometimes they are just normal. so just look around for hte cheapest price. but genreally cheaper than titles.

still look around other sources too

Undercovers is good because it is usually a lot cheaper than Titles (new or used). The only problem is, you can't return the books at all. That really sucks :(

You can only renew the book so many times, and if someone else requests it then you have to give it up (this is from the library)

Yes, on the titles list it will say whether or not there is a specific edition that you need. Sometimes when there is a very small change between the edition the prof will order both but that's something you won't find out until you go to class. If it says a specific edition then get that edition.

I thought you guys might find these sites useful. They're used book sites where they have listings from various used bookstores around the world.

http://ww.alibris.com
http://www.abebooks.com

How these sites work is they provide listings from the various used bookstores that have signed up with them. When you order things through their site, they send the order to the store you chose to buy from. The deal itself is between you and the store.

I've used abebooks several times and have not yet been disappointed. I've never used alibris, but I've heard good things.

*Remember:

SHIPPING TIMES:
It takes time for these books to be shipped. If you want them for the beginning of the semester, you need to order now.

SHIPPING COSTS:
Pay close attention to the shipping costs. Make sure you look at the price to ship to Canada. Sometimes these costs can wipe out the savings.

CURRENCY CONVERSION:
Make sure you pay attention to how much it'll cost you in Canadian dollars.

BUYER BEWARE:
Like anything else you buy on the Internet, you can get ripped off. So use these sites at your own risk. If you have problems, you have to deal with the stores themselves, not with alibris or abebooks.

Why are there different textbooks used in SOCIOL 1A06 (Contemporary Introduction to Sociology for Fetner, New Socity for Behnke-Cook & Sociology in Our Times for Joanisse)? Does this mean there will be 3 different exams for this course??? Also, does anyone know if Fetner uses the required text in Titles?

The intro course in sociology (and in many disciplines) are not standardized. This means that the course will vary depending on who teaches it.

The consequence of this is that each section of the course will likely have slightly different content as well as different textbooks, assignments and exams.

If the professor has listed the text as "required" it's likely that you'll need it.
