Brandon Fire: Volunteers Needed!!

From what we have read on the forums so far students are more than willing to help out the 550 students who have been displaced due to the fire in Brandon over the weekend. This is a stressful time for all of us due to midterms, and it is certainly worse for students from Brandon.

MSU President Azim Kasmani sent the following message to all MSU members recently via email:

Hey Team,

As many of you have heard by now, there was a fire in Brandon Hall on Saturday. Tonight at 7PM, there will be an information session for parents and students affected by the fire, and the University has asked us to find volunteers to help out. We need at least 50 people. If you don't have night class or work, please let me know, and I can forward you more information as I receive it.

Shortly afterwards Azim sent another message asking anyone who was available to come to Les Prince. There will be many of these messages coming over the next few days. If you are able to help in any way, PLEASE volunteer your time!

Hey all,

Thank you for all your help, support, and assistance. The response has been overwhelming and positive, and everyone, especially the students in Brandon, really appreciates it. I've included some details I've received about tonight's event below, thank you again to those of you who are able to help out.

Hello all. Thank you for agreeing to volunteer tonight. Please meet at MDCL Room 1305 at 6:30 pm to be briefed by Jason Cole. Information that I have rec'd is that we'll be set up with 2 tables set up for each floor, each with 2 volunteers, so 44 volunteers. There will be a list of students for each floor which will be checked off, and a list of questions to ask which will be provided by Cathie Miller, to provide her with the information she needs for next steps.

I've also been informed that we need 5 more volunteers to meet at 6:00PM at the main parking kiosk, at the Sterling St entrance. If you're able to help there, please e-mail [email protected], and CC me [AZIM] on that.
