Signing an employment contract doesn't mean you're bound to work the full term. Read the contract and find the clause which indicates how much notice you are required to provide (if it is stipulated in your contract). Standard professional courtesy is two weeks but if you aren't required by your contract to provide a specific notice period, you can hand in your resignation letter and walk out the door. Depends if you want to leave on a positive note and not burn bridges.

Think twice about it... jobs are hard to find these days :(
Also... it probably should be a 2-week notice.

Just hand in your two weeks notice. The only way it would be difficult to end your contract is if there is a clause stating a specific duration of work. But most places don't do that. Those contracts are mostly for certain procedures in the work place, confidentiality stuff, etc.

if you are doing it as a coop placement there may be very severe consequences from the coop department/uni/faulty. Otherwise 2 weeks written notice is the usual.
