I was planning on bringing my own tv, but with a common room is it really worth it?

Of course its worth it. Be the awesome girl on the floor that has a 50 inch OLED TV. Even without the TV, I would still hang with ya.

Matthew's common rooms were usually pretty nasty and empty when I lived there two years ago, but it is an option.
I had a neighbour in first year who brought a flat screen and hung it up above his desk in such a way that it didn't get in the way of anything else. If you can pull that off, then yeah, I'd say its worth it. He watched a bunch of movies in there and invited people all the time, all in the comforts of his own room
Or you could do what my roommate did and get an extra computer monitor (maybe 19') to hook up to your laptop. That way, you can go dual-screen (which is actually really useful for assignments and watching videos - I've adopted his method and went dual screen for all of second year )

skgr says thanks to ricechrispy for this post.

19' is too small! Shakira deserve at least a 27'.

The fact that you two are telling the OP to get a monitor 19 or 27 feet tall is great advice boys. Next up why not tell her how to get that to fit through a door, or maybe even a 3 story room!

AvacadoLover, shelbs like this.

Yes, for sure. You get your own selection and privacy of things you want to watch, no need to battle it out on a Thursday night at 8pm for what to watch, lol.

You can also share you're TV with your floormates and they'll love ya! The TVs in rez are usually pretty small.

Bringing your own TV is a good idea. But as someone who has been using duel screens for the past 4/5 years (For work and is contemplating getting a third) that is a much better way to go!
