To buy or not to buy - Math 1LS3
Hey guys, I have seen many posts of people saying that the textbook for math 1ls3 is not needed and if you did well in grade 12 calculus, you would do well in this course too. So now I'm debating this myself. I did do very very well in calculus grade 12, but when I go to the practise homework assignments, there are some questions asking about some theory based things , new things we would have known.

Would this justify buying the book or not?

In my experience (with a different prof last year), the topics were easy but some of them were new. Also the book is really the only place that you can do practice questions as there are not many practice tests, other assigned problems or resources.

apparently the course has been dramatically reformatted this year, with additional items, and a different course outline. as such i do not believe we can accurately tell you if you need the book or not. if you don't think its that big of a deal buy it used, there are plenty of ppl selling used texts here on MI, and i have a set of the math ls3 materials too from last year if you are interested.

Buy the textbook, especially because Lovric rewrote it, it will likely be used more this year.

Buy it, it's really good and as mentioned above, great practice questions
