When to buy textbooks!
I've been reading up on the threads asking when to buy textbooks, and I'm conflicted!

Most people say to buy them after the first classes (in case books change), but most people also say you need to get used books before school starts because they go fast!\

I'm in Engineering I this September! What do I do? I plan on buying used, but it seems like the editions change from year to year for some courses...does this mean the textbook is different?

Well, usually just a few extra problems are added in new editions. In the chapter the matter usually stays the same. But hey, the cheap textbook is still worth when you are saving 50 bucks on each of them!

Any references your professor gives, you will have to search up in the index. The pages won't be the same, the figures won't be the same either. Most of the time the material is the same, maybe a paragraph or two added to clear things up but you shouldn't be missing out on much. If you are ok with that, then go ahead and by the older edition it'll save you a lot of cash.
