Buying Textbooks
Is there any Humanities courses that use the same textbook/s every year? Or could anyone give advice on what texts are important or useless for my courses? Or if I should buy them new or used? Thanks

Why don't you post which courses you're taking and people can advise you as to whether the textbook changes often...

I've taken English 1A03 and English 1CS3. 1A03 changes because the stories change depending on the prof. 1CS3 was offered for the 1st time last year, and the only texts were the course ware and a text called "Popular Culture A User's Guide." I can't really imagine that changing. I had Dr. Strauss and never bought the course ware because it only consisted of essays she had chosen that we may want to read if we got the chance, but we were never tested on it.

Let me know what texts you need, if you want, and we can work something out.

Okay, so lost the texts you did. I kind of doubt they'll be the same, though, because they're different professors.

Don't buy textbooks until the class starts, usually professors will let you know what is the most important and whether or not you'll be needing certain ones. Obviously, used is cheaper and in my opinion better, because its the same book. Another great thing to do is check Amazon for your textbooks, if you're willing to wait a couple weeks you can usually get a really great deal on textbook prices.

also if your prof says you need a certain edition, ask if you can still use the previous edition.. it will be a lot cheaper if you buy off of upper years since itd be an older version and everyone is looking for the newer versions! itll save you a ton of money and help out those who are selling their books
