CA Applications
I've seen a few threads on this, but they are a few years old. I've applied to become a CA next year and I have been invited to the Assessment Center, I'm just wondering what to wear...business casual or jeans, as I know it is both a 1 on 1 interview and group activities...

Also, regarding the salary, I know it is equal to the amount of a Single Room, but what happens if you get put in a residence like Keyes, are you expected to pay the difference? Because from what I understand you pretty much work to pay for your room correct? Like there are no discounts for residence as a CA?

Thanks!

You do have to pay the difference, yes (unless things have changed).

As for your other questions, I'm not sure.

- business casual is fine, don't walk in with jeans
- group activities as well as individual interviews, where it's one current CA and a residence manager (or someone equivalent)
- you pay the difference

I could answer these for you. Don't dress up all fancy for your interview. Don't wear a suit and tie for example. That being said, don't dress like a bum. So no hoodies and sweats. For my interview last year I wore jeans and a casual dress shirt. The estimated pay for next year is $6040. That is a little bit more than a single room I believe, but res costs change every year, and I would not be surprised if they increase again next year. I am a CA in Bates and res is about $7000 I believe (maybe $6800). We are required to pay the rest. What actually happens is we pay the full res fee up front (just as a first year would), but we are paid a salary and get paid every 2 weeks. So by the time April rolls around, we would have made a total of $6040. Hope that helps. PM me if you have any other questions about becoming a CA or what the job entails.
