Talk to an advisor, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

I did it my first year and they allowed me, but it will still count towards your GPA

So in other words, you can forfeit the credit but not the grade?

no, you just take another course that counts toward your cpa. it also counts toward your 120 units for graduation

every course you take at mac is counted to your overall GPA, whether it's during the fall, summer, or if you failed. You can take whatever other math course you like, but that 1A03 grade will still be counted in your GPA. I'm not sure what you mean by forfeit, exactly.

in any case, talk to an advisor

Courses cannot be forfeit unless you forfeit your entire transcript and start again - You'll lose all of your courses.

You likely can take 1LS3, but are you sure you'd want to? If it's to re-learn the material, consider spending $500 for ~20 hours of 1 on 1 tutoring services. You'd likely get more out of it - and have a less stressful experience - than taking 1LS3.

Or on the other hand, if you don't care about learning the material and just need a GPA boost, consider taking an alternate math course like 1B03. In my experience, what you're proposing looks worse if you ever intend to apply to graduate studies or professional school (given that your courses are listed by semester, in the order you took them, on your transcript).
