Cell Phone Help
I'm living in burlington now but will be living in res in the fall. I'm gonna buy a prepaid phone (prolly from Telus) but I'm not sure whether to buy it now or if I have to wait. The area code is the same, so does it matter whether I buy it now or wait?

It depends firstly if you're going to be using it between now and then.

Also, you have to be sure that even though the area code is the same the number isn't long distance. I have a Brampton cell number, which is still 905, but is considered long distance to Hamilton.

When is it exactly that I recieve a phone number? Could I buy the phone now and activate it when I get to Hamilton. The reason I want to do this is because a store near me has the phone I want on sale for very cheap so i dont wanna wait till I move to Hamilton to get it where it'll be more expensive. Cynn, it's going to be prepaid so no contract.

I've been with Rogers for a while and even when I am in Oakville, it's still a safe zone. I'm not trying to advertise Rogers or anything, but I think that if you go with them you'll be safe. I'm not 100% sure about Telus, you should call them and check, if that doesn't help, I can look into it for you. So you may be able to buy that phone that's on sale

vpop if you could look into it for me that would be great. I would try calling them but my landline is broken or something and people aren't coming to fix it until maybe tomorrow...which is another reason why I want the phone now. Thanks a bunch.

What? I have a Bell cell phone and call from Hamilton to Burlington (and vice versa) all the time, and it most certainly is NOT long distance. In fact, the local coverage area is larger than a Bell landline. It doesn't start to get to be long distance until you're into Oakville or quite far north in the Halton region.
