Changes to MacConnect Wireless

Technology Service Notice

Summary: MacConnect (wireless) network upgrade

Access to wireless on campus is becoming easier. After the upgrade:

· New Users (Windows platform) will no longer need to install the Cisco Clean Access Agent
· Existing Users (Windows platform) will be requested to uninstall Cisco Clean Access Agent (this will become mandatory later in June)

All those connecting to wireless after removing the agent will only need to launch an Internet browser and enter their Mac ID credentials. You will then be connected to wireless!

For more information on the changes please refer to our website:

Further changes later this summer will increase the capacity of the wireless system and enhance security, at which point Clean Access will be completely removed (the agent will no longer work).

Start Date: TuesdayMay 25, 2010

Start Time: 10:00 a.m.

Audience: McMaster Community, wireless and public-area wired MacConnect.

University Technology Services thanks you for your cooperation and understanding.

If you have any questions or concerns, or experience any problems
re-connecting later, please contact the UTS Service Desk at
[email protected] or ext. 2-HELP (24357).

Funny thing is, it's gonna take me longer to pop open a browser and log in rather than waiting for the popup box when I'd startup my computer on campus
