Changes to timetable?
Hey,

I have a really quick question for anyone who knows about making changes to their timetable. I didn't make any changes last year in my first year, so this process is completely new to me. I want to completely change a course and also attempt to move around a tutorial or two.

I know SOLAR (the horrible boil on the face of life that it is) opens up again tomorrow morning at 8.30, and I've been told that the process is pretty much the same as picking courses in the first place. But my main question is regarding how long it would take me to get my new timetable once I have made whatever changes I could? I've been told by a few people that apparently it takes an hour, but others have told me differently. Can anyone clear this up for me? It would be so helpful.

Thanks in advance for any and all helpful input
(:

I think SOLAR tells you it will be done by 24 hours or something...? But I've found that it usually changes between 1-5 (?) hours. From my experience, it is generally pretty fast -- probably depends on how many other people are changing their timetables at the same time.

However I wouldn't worry too much about not getting the updated timetable soon enough...you are already successfully registered into the new section so just take note of it yourself if the updating takes a while.

Personal timetables will be refreshed nightly to reflect the most current course scheduling information including times and room locations. Normally, no changes will be made the week before the start of term.

Thanks for the input guys!
I just really wanted a general idea of what to look out for so I don't turn into a lunatic who keeps abusing my F5 button every 3 seconds

I have a feeling that 99% of the server's bandwidth tomorrow is going to be wasted on people seriously doing that. Be prepared for a sudden flood of new one time users on this site asking "Why my timetable no update? DERP DERP!".

I hope there aren't as many people F5ing SOLAR tomorrow as there were during course selection. I want to get this over with first thing when I get to work, lol.

Well there's probably a lot more people who stay up later than 12 than there are willing to wake up before 8:30

I agree with that. Hopefully I won't sleep through my alarm.

I don't know if I can survive 8:30. Hell, I went to bed at 4:30 AM last night. Gonna need some cappuccinos. (Don't have a cappuccino maker but... ._.)

It's better to sleep even for those few hours, or you'll be cranky/tired for the rest of the day :(
