Is Charity Poker legal?
Is it legal in Ontario to run a charity poker game?

The money would be split 50/50 amongst the winner and the charity.
The house/dealer would not take any of the pot.

Sure why not. In fact since its purpose is charity it can even be 100% to charity. U just spend money to play and maybe have a record on how much u "won". If u don't like it don't go, but.I don't see how this will be illegal

I would probably email OLG since any kind of gambling, even stuff like this, is probably still governed by them. The only thing I can see is if there was an entry fee and the winner gets a prize but I think if people are betting during it, that is gambling

A quick google search indicates that the situation is very muddy. One article said it's okay as long as no money goes to the people organizing the event, another says it's not legal at all but some cities don't enforce the law, etc.

Charity poker tournaments do happen in Ontario, but their legality seems to be in a bit of a grey zone. I do seem to recall some sort of charity poker event taking place at Mac at some point several years back, though. I can't remember the details, unfortunately.
