Chembio undergrad admissions
Hello

I'm thinking about going into chembio in year 2. I keep hearing that it's really competitive to get into, as they only accept about 30 people per year. Do you think I would be OK with a 9.7-9.9 average? Thanks in advance!

they only accept 30ish people per year because not a lot of people choose to go into chembio. You should definitely get in with a 9.7-9.9 average

That's not even remotely true. It's primarily due to the cost of the labs, actually. They're trying to expand it due to the high demand, which is why they're hoping to have around 45 in next year's group. They've added second cores into classes that traditionally had only one, etc, to try to accommodate the higher numbers.

Dear People NOT in Chem Bio,
Please stop pretending you know.

Also a 10 average should be alright.

However with the enormous growth around the demand for the program, it should only increase the required average for acceptance. Don't be surprised when you enter with a 10 average and find that you're suddenly below average.

Yep, for my year the average of everyone's first-year SA was 10.5 (or so we were told).

I got in with 11.5, a friend of mine was 11.6..........so that's just a look of the range you are competing against. Not everyone has 11+ so 10 should be ok

Having an 11 average is better
But not everybody in my year entered with 11+ (or so we were told)
