Chinese 1Z06 & Japanese 1Z06
Hi,
I'll be going into first year this september, and after emailing the humanities department, I finally got a seat in Japanese 1Z06 (yay!). The other course I really wanted to take was Chinese 1Z06, and it is available at the moment. The only reason I'm hesitant in enrolling in the course is because I'm not sure if taking Japanese and Chinese courses at the same time is the best idea. If it's a matter of enthusiasm, I've got it for both courses, but I also don't want to overburden myself. A few times a week, the courses would be on the same day, right after each other as well, so I also don't want to start getting confused between the two and what not. So basically, I'm wondering if people who have taken either courses could tell me how they found both courses, and more importantly if you think that it would be a good/bad idea to take both simultaneously.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Personally I haven't taken chinese and japanese at mac, although i've learn chinese and studied a bit of japanese before. I think it wouldn't be that bad of an idea to take them simutaneously since their a lot of their characters/grammar are similar. Its like equivalent to learning spanish and italian at the same time.

For Chinese courses, you need to complete a placement test conducted by the department.
The last day to sign up for a placement test is tomorrow : http://confucius.mcmaster.ca /news/...tration.h tml

Placement test times are during the day and are conducted on campus. Just to let you know.
