Actually, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao are using traditional, so i'm sure that's more than 1%

In (slight) avoidance of that touchy issue, I would say that it's common knowledge that at least a large percentage of Taiwanese people use Chinese on a daily basis, especially since Mandarin Chinese is their official language.

On another note, 1) actually, not all people who can read simplified can read traditional nor vice versa because some words do not follow the "simplification" patterns, and 2) some simplified words are the same as traditional [see kangs6's post that says 簡體字. The character 字 is the same in both forms].

Just clarifying.
