I had this problem in the summer: I don't use IE and so after a while I just got rid of it completely, apparently the update I was "missing" was for IE, so I had to download and install IE again and get the update, after that it worked. It may not be the same problem but if you don't have IE try installing it, check for updates, and then try again.

Try emailing UTS
Also, can you ignore it? I remember it wouldn't recognize my AV program, but I could still use MacConnect.

Hi, I am a 2nd/3rd year software eng student. I have been fiddling around with clean access agent for about a year. There are so many things wrong with this piece of software, it's astounding. The one good thing about this software is that it pointed out to me that a computer is never secure. Do you know that this system actually uses not only your browser agent string, but also port-scans your computer and looks at your TCP/IP stack to determine your OS? Now the bad: I have the last version of AVG, my computer is squeaky clean and it's up to date SP3 and everything. And what does this nasty software do? It says my computer is not up to date or even protected. Not only that, but this damn "clean" access agent will crash on me like no other software I got on my laptop. In fact, this software has given me more grief than I had uninstalling 368 virus and rootkits from my click-happy grandma's computer. So what do I do? I carry around an Ubuntu disk, as linux is assumed to have no viruses. But some software(like Quartus II from Altera) that I need for class won't run on ubuntu(maybe with some fiddling). So I ask you now: can we get McMaster to drop this worthless software somehow?

Anyway, that's my opinion.
Adrian

PS: I'm not telling you how to spoof your TCP/IP stack

It's because it is made by Cisco. Cisco makes the worst stuff on the entire Earth. The only thing good about their home Linksys stuff is that you can put Linux on some of it.

crashes on xp32 as well.
those who know how to take care of their comp should easily find where to adjust the following:

TTL: 64
MTU: 1460/1500
Mem Window: 16384
Selective Ack: 1/0
Path MTU disc: 1
(ubuntu 8.10 defaults)

of course theres more to complete cloaking than that, but its a start in the right direction.

See now they're going to go ahead and fix it so we can't get around CCAA.

not working for me either, after i installed the update, it won't even load but instead sends and error dialog saying 'unexpected error; quitting'.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, used system restore - everything. the same problem occurs.

I figured out how to get around Cisco access agent. I'm not sure if it works since I'm at home right now, but I'm going to test it Monday.

Anyway, you need to use firefox.

In the address bar type "about:config"

A page will come up and will basically ask your permission to go to firefox's settings.

Right click anywhere in the page and select "new", then select "string". In the text window that appears, type "general.useragent.ov erride". Then press okay.

In the next bar that appears, type "

javascript:document.w riteln(navigator.user AgentMozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6"

Then press okay again, and your done! I don't know if it works since I can't test it yet. :p

just get user agent switcher, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59.

and at least change the date (Gecko/20050716) and version (Firefox/1.0.6) to something most recent. the more people that use this method, the more probable that theyll start identifying systems by passive tcp and not browser header.

Hey Ownaginatios that code worked great to bypass the cisco clients. The only problem is that now I can't search with google.com, I get a 403 forbidden error saying the client does not have permission to visit the URL. It also asks me to return this block of code to the google team:
