sigh :(
i too had to install clean access agent today.... user agent string stopped working.... i wonder if loading up Ubuntu in virtual PC with network shared, authenticating, then going back to windows would work??? you get 3 hours out of the deal....(for those of whom clean access fails to work)
I notice that Clean access agent has been updated to be less picky. I used to not be able to authenticate because my windows wasnt up to date.. so i tried to update.. and still no avail.. i could only asume that it was due to having automatic updates completely disabled (far too anoying!)... so i used that user agent trick (this was last year). Now, without having done any updates since last year, it now works for me. Nod 32 antivirus and Kerio Sunbelt firewall.. odd really.
Clean access agent is just one more time consuming step to get online... needs to at least have an automatic login feature!
The user agent trick was actually a well documented bug since very early (3.x) versions of CAA

The newest version of CAA our school uses is 4.1.3.
As snaps mentioned, and a website i just read confirmed that the new CAA does check UA string, TCP stack, AND javascript.... so definately not as easy as it once was, but it is still possible with much ado. I cannot recomend any of these activities, but google is your friend.
