Classics 1B03 or Anthrop 1B03?
I'm having trouble deciding between these 2 courses. A little background: I'm capped at 9 units per term, and have all 9 full. The other courses are program requirements I have to take. Both courses of of great interest to me, and both are also electives.

Does anyone have experience in both of these classes that can help me out? Right now I'm leaning towards Classics, thanks to a helpful Macinsiders member. But I don't know of anyone that has taken the Anthro course.

Any help is appreciated, since I seem to have no decision making abilities :|

I took the Anthro course, but several years ago. The prof has changed a few times, and I assume the course did too.

The Archeology classes don't tend to be as popular as some of the others because Science students don't take them as electives (like 1Z03, 2U03 etc).

There are two reviews on the course, here: http://www.macinsiders.com/showthread.php?t=1844 4

Carter is supposedly teaching the course again, if that helps.

I have yet to attend Classics 1B03, but I may be able to speak for the course material. If you are an avid reader who enjoys reading plays and epic novels, this may be the course for you. I've read an English translation of "The Odyssey" (which I believe is one of the Greek epics covered in this course), and I can see how someone might not be into reading many, many pages of poetic verse. However, if you're like me (ie, a big ancient history geek), I bet you'd love this course for its emphasis on the literary culture and mythology of ancient Greece.

In others words, if you dig Greek myths, with all their power-hungry gods and beast-slaying heroes, you'll probably enjoy this class.

The course list comes out on Monday (the 17th) so you can see what the required courses are for both and go from there too.

Well, thanks for the help peoples, but i've decided to stay with Anthro, just because it fits into my schedule better. Classics would have meant gaps of anywhere from 2-5 hours in the middle of the day from my other classes, so I'll leave that til next year. Definitely gonna take it though. No one has had anything bad to say about it yet.
