Comp Eng vs Elec Eng for II year
So apparently, the courses and the structure for electrical and computer engineering has changed for second year. I am going into 2nd year and I've read the course summaries for the program.

According to what I've seen and everyone who has taken Elec II in the past, this was the program structure (which was the same as Comp eng II):

- 2 Math (1Z03 +1ZZ3)
- 4 Elec courses
- 4 Comp Eng courses

But now for Elec eng II:
-2 Math (same as previous)
-4 Elec Eng same as previous
-3 Comp Eng (Micro processor course is missing)
-1 complementary Elective

And for Comp eng II:
-1 Math (1Z03)
-4 Elec Eng (Same as other)
-4 Comp Eng
-1 Complementary Elective

I applied for Elec Eng thinking that the third year was when we specialized and went for Comp Eng or something else. I really don't know why they changed the courses and made either program have an elective.

Which one should I go for ? I am more into Computer hardware+software but I don't want the absence of Math 1ZZ3 to be a penalty. I also want to take the Microprocessor course but it's given in Elec Eng III year anyway. Why is the department playing this weird game....

It's not a dilemma, it's a rant and a question regarding why does Mac change courses for a program at the last minute....

Well regarding the microelectronics course: many people did shittily; it hasn't been presented well in the past, so I'm assuming they want students with a better background before being introduced to it?

Are you sure about the maths? 2z03 and 2zz3 is what we do in 2nd year..

Yeah but 2zz3 isn't offered in comp eng.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the complementary elective. I did both econs, looked at what ECE 2nd year offered and was relieved to see there was no electives.

I was happy... Until Mac just changed the whole thing a week ago.
I feel so disgusted looking at that elective list (http://www.eng.mcmaster.ca/documents/electives.pdf)

Psych is pretty awesome, but I'm in biomed, so might be biased towards my interests

Yeah, complimentary electives are are stupid idea...

According to this: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calen...nt/pg1210.html
You don`t have any electives till 3rd year, and then technical electives after that.. its only one course...
