contacting the prof regarding final mark
hello,
i m waiting for my mark for physics took in winter 2011. however, the mark i received for this course will not be released until may 30. i dont know if i passed or failed the course (there is a possibility i failed it because things didnt go pretty smooth in that class). anyhow, should i contact my prof asking him to consider passing me in that course or wait until may 30th?
* bearing in mind that i m repeating this course (and i dont know what happens to me during testing time ), but honestly i understand the basics of physics VERY WELL. bottomline is i dont EVER wanna take it again for the third time (GOD forbid). ***
kindly post ur reply in light of the above mentioned comment *

Yeah I'm having the same dilemma, except with 2 marks. My plan is just to wait it out, but from my experience contacting profs I think there is a chance they will tell you your mark. You don't have anything to lose so if you are super impatient might as well.

Might as well wait. By this time the marks have most likely already been turned in. When you do see your mark, contact your prof. Don't know if they'll pass you if you fail though. You'll probably need to go meet them in person, possibly do an exam review.

I emailed Hughes about PHYSICS 1B03 and got this response:
Hi
The marks were submitted to the registrar and only the registrar can
release the final grade. I'm not sure what their timetable is.
OK?
K.Hughes
I also emailed Alastair Tracey for my BIO 1M03 mark and got almost an identical response.
Just gonna have to wait I guess. :(

Just wait until they are released. And if you do fail, go see your prof in person. I can guarantee they will ignore any email that says "Can you pass me please?" Going in person shows that you're serious.
