hehe. I think a butcher's knife would have its uses too... you know... when your neighbour is playing music too loud in the middle of the night...
but yeah, it's just a cooking knife... so it should have okay. Should. yay!

I didn't really bring any cooking supplies. I tried to play the system pretty well tho. I bought drinks and snacks at home and brought those to campus. Buying drinks/snacks from campus will deplete your meal plan in a month. Those items are marked up like 200%/300%. This way, I just saved my meal plan for actual food (which is fairly expensive as well, but c'est la vie).
It's really convenient to not have to make food. Especially when you have projects due or exams/midterms to study for. Nipping away to commons for five minutes beats cooking for 20-30 minutes.

Its really not that akward having pots/ and pans in your rooms. You can keep them in the kitchen but I wouldn't trust it... a lot people take it and like pulling pranks with it... You can save a drawer for pots pans and stuff.. There is a lot storage space in most of the residence rooms!

Very true, I drank so many cases of water in residence. I probably saved hundred of dollars from drinks!

I was actually thinking of the point of the Flex dollars, since it would be so much cheaper to get this stuff from off-campus stores. So just use the money for eating out and such?
It's definitely convenient.. but then again there's always these few times a year when you get sick of cafeteria food.. Or just feel hungry at awkward times in the day/night XD.. Time consuming but ..:(

There is only about a 3 hours span where you can't buy food from anywhere, and you should be sleeping during those 3 hours!
Commons closes at 12:00 (Stops making food @ 11). From 12-2 (maybe 3), you can order from Pita Pit.

There's actually a few places that are open late so you can eat. Most of them from Monday to Wednesday are open till around 2 am. Then Thursday to Saturday they're like open till 5am. Other places like Pita Pit include Basillique (make some really, really good pizza. You should check out thier BBQ chicken pizza!), there is Pizza Pizza open till 2 am, Jimmy Cringo's (amazing Mexican food) but they don't accept student cardm yet anyways. And of course Subway!! Across Main St. had some good times there. $5.65 for sub... great deal. No student card there though. Its open 24/7 to! So when all else fails head for subway or you can cook of course!
I should write an article on eating out....

Wow.. There's so many options .. Maybe it's not worth cooking afterall
Definitely would be an article I'll refer to all through next year.. And WOW 5 am and 24/7... That sounds so much better than the 12 AM McDonalds around here

haha Trust me/us, once you've done at least 2 months of residence + off-campus food, you're going to want to make your own food. It's not that the food sucks (there are definitely some hidden gems on campus - ie. BRIDGES! ), you're just going to want more variety.
In first year I brought a little pot and made my own food when I was bored/sick of rez food. You never know who you're going to meet in your common room/kitchen.

Haha.. That sounds more realistic .. How long can you tolerate fast food anyway.. I don't think that's too long
But at the same time you have to finish the money on your student account.. Ahhh! So much math/confusion !?
Haha.. not sure about meeting people in the common room.. Kinda awkward when you're talking to someone and cooking.. and then..
BAM your food's burnt.. or worse.. on fire !
