Core Selection for Courses
Hi,

I'm just wondering when I will be able to log onto SOLAR and select the cores to determine my schedule. For some reason when I signed up on SOLAR I was able to select the core and tutorial time for my elective, however my mandatory courses didn't give me that option.

Thanks in advance

Right now you only pick courses. Then after 7 days, SOLAR closes to generate a timetable for you. After that, you can go in and change around cores/labs/tutorial sections to fit your preferred schedule. So you don't have to worry about that till early August.

Usually it's the courses that have like, one core or one tutorial and I'm kind of like... duh, what else would I be in? >.>

Lol, that's never happened to me. But usually the ones I have to choose have around 10 labs and 10 tutorials.

So, our timetable was released. Are we able to switch cores? Or can we only switch around tutorials and labs?

You can switch around everything and drop/add courses as long as there is space available. All sections also have a certain capacity depending on the room.

And relatively speaking, how difficult would switching cores be? I understand it depends on the course... like, in my case, for math 1ls3, if i wanted to switch from core 03 to core 02....

It really depends on what students want. The more students want a certain spot, the harder it is to get into that spot.

This is really weird...I specifically chose core 2, but somehow I ended up with core 1. Has this happened to anyone?

o.O That is weird... check the Master Timetable to see if Core 2 wasn't cancelled. That might be a reason why that happened.

Not sure then, try contacting your department... If you printed the page at the end of course selection to prove that you chose Core 2, that would help you get switched into it.
