course load question
Hey guys, I have a question about course load.

My friends are pretty much all taking orgo in the summer, and they have me UTTERLY convinced that I will fail miserably if I take it during the year. I would also have anatomy both terms in second year, which is also tons of memorization AND has labs.

So that's 2 orgo + 2 anatomy + my other 6 courses

The problem is, I'm going back home at the end of June, so I can't take both orgos in the summer.

This semester, I found that I tend to cram EVERYTHING...so I need your advice; is it possible to succeed with that course load if I endeavour change my attitude towards studying?

Thank you =)

orgo isn't that bad i really really enjoyed it, it's typical to have 3 labs in a term and heavy workloads as a science student so you should be fine. Cramming everyhting doesn't seeem like a good idea for anatomy cuz there's ALOT of info but if i works for u do it

The difficulty of Orgo I is incredibly overhyped, IMO. And I'm allowed to say that, because I struggled badly in first year chemistry but with improved study habits in second year I pulled off a decent mark in Orgo. Ignore people who tell you that Orgo is "murder" or "death".... I heard so much of that and it freaked me out too, but it's all just BS.

You'll be fine taking it during the year.

As for Orgo II... I'm taking it right now so I can't give any advice there lol.

Qadd says thanks to marcie for this post.

Not everyone can pull it off, it really depends on person to person. After first year you should have a general idea of yourself and what you can do. I personally have taken pretty ridiculous course loads for all three of my years. It's been ridiculously hard but I still manage to do well. It takes sacrifices but in the end I know it's to reach my ultimate goal.

I just advise your to manage your time wisely. Sacrifices will most likely be made, but it doesn't mean you should be doing school work all the time. There are A LOT of hours in a week and if you manage your time properly then you will only need to make minimal sacrifices. Just try not to procrastinate. Also, I suggest having a white board in your room where you can write out all the things you have to do. A heavy course load comes with a lot of assignments and readings to do and it's very hard to remember everything. Also, having everything written down will help with your time management because if you see a lot of things that need to be done you'll be more inclined to get started on your work.
