Course Load
I took 30 units in 1st year. 6 units at summer school and I am registered for 27 units for 2nd year. I am still trying to get into some electives for 2nd year but they are either full or don't work with the mandatory classes I need. If I continue with 27 units in second year, am I still considered a full time student.

Also, I plan on going to med school. By not taking 30 units in 2nd year, will this affect any med school applications. I realize I need 120 units to get my degree from Mac. Any help would be appeciated. Thank you.

As long as you take 24 units, you'll be considered a full time student.

It should not affect your application, especially not in 2nd year. But it's probably recommended to take a full course load in your last couple years. You don't have to obviously, but the course load in medical school may be overwhelming. I wouldn't know for sure as I haven't done any research on medical schools, but I know for optometry it's recommended for full course loads. My friend who graduated from optometry said the course load was like first year except 10times worse. That you don't have time to do anything as you are juggling so many different things.

You'll lose UofT's awesome "drop your lowest full course or equivalent" system. And Western won't count that year in the GPA calculation (you need 5 full year courses or 10 half).
