The course materials will be released on August 17th. But for summer school the following was required:

SOLOMONS T - ORGANIC CHEMISTRY (TXT/SSG/SSM/MMK/WILEYPLUS)

And these were optional:

SOLOMONS T - WILEYPLUS ACCESS CARD (STAND-ALONE) FOR ORGANIC CHEMISTRY
DARLING S - MOLECULAR VISIONS ORGANIC MODEL KIT (WHITE COLLAPSED BOX)
DARLING S - FLEXIBLE STEREOCHEMISTRY MOLECULAR MODEL KIT (ORGANIC)(IN GREEN BOX)

You'll know when the booklist comes out on August 17.

In past years, it has been the good old "Organic Chemistry" by Solomons & Fryhle + any molecular model kit (not mandatory but most students find it very useful).

However, I would definitely advise against purchasing course materials before the booklists come out. Many people don't buy until they've been to their first class because some profs make changes to what is required/what is optional, etc.

EDIT: Ahh I posted at the same time. Oh well...I'll keep my post .

Everything you need comes in a package which will be enough for both courses.

It's basically sticks and balls. You use them to construct molecules. It's very helpful in organic chemistry.

If you can, I'd recommend getting the older edition of the book. It's exactly the same (same questions, different order). Same content, etc.

The molecular kit helps so much.

With the textbook came this program called WILEY which had practice questions, tests, etc. I never used it and did alright provided that I had a lot of old tests I picked up from learnlink and resources the teacher put on webct. This was only for CHEM 2OA3 in the summer.
When it comes to the model kits, they were helpful and allowed on the midterm and exam; however, I did not find them particularly useful for the tests and exam as they were long and using the molecular model for every question would have taken too long.

You could get by in the course with only the textbook. The molecule kit is nice but not necessary, like Wiley.
