Course Selection: Environ Sci to Honours Life Sci
Hello to all of you lovely people!
Okay, so I will be a future environmental science student at mcmasters, and my plan is to choose Honours Life Sci, or Biology as a level II program. I heard that this isn't too difficult, as long as you carefully choose your courses. As such, I made a tentative list of the courses I should take to get into Honours Life Sci. Essentially, I would like some advice on whether or not I have everything I need, or if I have some things that aren't necessary that I should kick out to make the course load less overwhelming.
The List:
Biology 1A03, 1M03
Chem 1A03, 1AA3
Psch 1X03, 1XX3 (<-- is 1XX3 mandatory, or can I just take 1X03?)
Physics 1B03 (<-- Do I have to take this in my first year? I read that it was strongly recommended)
Math 1LS3
Enviro Sci 1G03, 1A03 or 1B03 (I haven't decided between the last two)
Er, hopefully I can get some help. Cheers!

looks good. Yes take psych 1xx3, you will need to complete it by second year anyway. Don't take physics 1b03 if you don't have to. Its not fun.

It says I have to have physics 1b03 done by second year anyways, and that it's a prereq for bio 2A03. Although it says
" Prerequisite(s):
BIOLOGY 1A03, 1M03 and credit or registration in ARTS&SCI 2D06 or PHYSICS 1B03; or 1SCI 1A24"
I'm not sure what it means by 'credit or registration'. I'm guessing that as long as I'm registered for the course in my second year, I can take Bio 2ao3?

yeah id wait and take physics second year. as long as you are registered you should be able to get into bio 2a03. keep in mind that for honours life sic you dont HAVE to take bio 2a03...its just one of the MANY courses you can do in an honours life sci course. Also for bio the entrance may SAY that you need a minimum of a "6" average to get in...but in reality its much higher than that! Probably closer to a 9 or 10. Honours Life Sci you just need to get a 6 to get in.

i just hope you know that while 'technically' its not hard to, actually having high enough grades in your first year to be able to transfer is pretty tough...
goodluck either way

Psych 1XX3 is not required, neither is Psych 1X03, but you'd have to take both Kins, or 1 Kin and 1 Psych. Psych 1XX3 is just a requirement for a few psych courses in 2nd year such as learning, music cognition, etc. If you're not interested in those courses, then you don't have to take it, but you'd have to take Kin 1Y03 instead.
If you're going to Honours Life Science, you don't need Physics 1B03. Physics 1B03 is a prereq for a few biology courses such as Bio 2A03, but it's not really needed, you can get by without it.
12 units from BIOLOGY 1A03, 1M03, KINESIOL 1Y03, 1YY3, PSYCH 1X03 (or 1AA3), 1XX3 (or 1A03) with an average of at least 6.0

Is kinesiology open this year for first years though? Because it's not on the course list that I have in the booklet I was sent for the faculty of science, nor is it listed on the poster like pamphlet with the admission requirements for level II programs.
Also, if I don't take Physics 1B03 first year, does that mean I'd have to take Physics 1L03 instead?

No, it's not open for first years anymore.
Yes, you would have to.
