Decent average
I am currently going into 2nd year commerce with an 8 average. However, I am curious to know what is considered a decent average in commerce at the end of all 4/5 years. For all you other 1st year commies (and others!) going into 2nd what did you guys finish with?

What is the mandatory requirement to stay in your program? Just stay above that. I think my commerce friends said it was a 7..?

umm... just staying above the minimum average does not really constitute as a DECENT average. That would be a bare minimum average... so your post doesnt really answer the OP's question

it is in terms of perspective and personal ambitions. To me an engineer a 7 (70 ) is freaking amazing while other people/faculties think is meh. Since the requirement to stay in Commerce is like a 70 an 80 or 85 would be great keeping you above the bar. The word "decent" has different terms of interpretations since standards are different.

Maybe I should've clarified, I mean decent in terms of competitiveness. For engineers it's probably different, but for business I feel the field is so saturated that your average has to be more than just above the bare minimum to remain competitive.

an 8 is not competitive in commerce. I would say 10.4+

Let's say you are in accounting. Let's say you want to be in the big 4 accounting firms. I would definitely try to get an 10+ in those with a 10+ in commerce. Everyone seems to do "well" in commerce so keeping your average that high is good. Then again just aim for 12's for everything >_> (This does not factor in any extracurriculars to match your competitive score)
