Did I Screw Up? (LING 1Z03)
Hello, first year student here.
Long story short, this year I took every linguistics course available to me. Intro to Linguistics 1&2 along with both Ling 1Z03 and whichever one is next semester. Not sure ATM. I didn't really think that they would be redundant, because hey... They're different courses.

But I'm paranoid, and now I'm looking closer and seeing that these courses seem to be seen as alternatives to the intro to Linguistics courses? I'm planning on going for TESL, so I don't think focus on the linguistic qualities of English is a bad thing, but I don't want to take a course that's essentially just another version of Intro to Linguistics.

Does anybody have any insight into this course? Kind of going through a minor panic right now.

Why not just ask the prof about that?

I did. But I'm also not entirely expecting a prof to come right out and say "Yeah, don't take my class. It's inferior to that one," so I was hoping for some insight from other, hopefully more neutral people.
Real pleasure to meet you by the way. Howard the Duck is my favourite movie.

I think the fact that you're able to register in all of them because they're not listed as antirequisites probably means they won't be redundant. Even if they end up being similar, it works out better for you because you have less material to learn per class and can probably get higher grades.
