Well, if you've just taken calculus and linear algebra, you haven't seen what math has to offer yet - you may well prefer "pure" mathematics (or dislike it even more strongly, haha)...
Personally, I don't care for applied math much - it's interesting, of course, but I wouldn't want to do any more of it than I have to. Unfortunately, you don't really get exposed to 'pure' math at the university level until (at least) 2nd year unless you look at the material yourself (or get Mowicz to tell you about it!).
