dilemma
Hey guys,
so i have this situation/dilemma, and i want both things, but i dont know what to choose.
1. i really want to do this manager job over the summer because it has very attractive benefits
2. i have to take summer school (to take chem 1A03 & 1AA3), so i can be accepted into Hon. Bio (physiology)
what should i do?
is it possible if i can take chem online over the summer? <-- if this option is available, how will the labs be done??

Need vs Want.
Pick the obvious.

Look into other universities that may offer it online, and then see if mac will accept the credit transfer.

if this so called attractive management position is the one where its recruiters have been coming to get some suckers to sign up, then it is not worth putting your academic career aside for. Those people will come to mac every year.

you can't take it online, mcmaster doesn't just want the credit, they wan't a 7 average meaning you have to take it at the school. so i guess thats goodbye to your summer job, why didn't you take it during the school year like every other life sci. student or did you fail?

If you Need the courses to get into the program you want then you really dont need to waste your time trying to decide between the two. Its obvious you need to go with summer school.

Is that actually you who does that? Because I've honestly seen that on two or three of them and laugh every time.

When you have a dilemma, I suggest taking a walk, look and reflect on nature.

Kendoon pretty much said it. I've hears a whole bunch of negative reviews about those programs from people who've actually tried it. If you really want to do it, I would look more into it before you put your academics on the side just for a job (one where you're unsure if it is even worthwhile all this in the end). Also, academics>job in my opinion .
By the way, you can also switch into Bio-Physio in 3rd year (depending on the number of seats available and such).

Quit trying to explain those manager jobs -- they're just straight up scams. Find a real job, or take summer school.

Remember why you're here.
If the management job is more important, then you should be in business, not biology. (I also did not know we had a first year biology program...)
Since you're in biology (I'm assuming Life Sci I here), then science should take precedent, and DO THE SUMMER SCHOOL, and get a part time job.

Well, 2 things of note;
1) if it is a Pyramid scheme job from a clipboard passed around in class, you'll end up quitting after 1 day
2) You can take both Chems online/at different universities.
http://www.science.mcmaster. ca/ass...lop2/equiv.php
It's actually not hard AT ALL to register for/set up. I've done 6 or 7 courses at other Universities, and there's no worries. Been interviewed/accepted at various universities across Canada/US having done so many courses at other uni's.
This semester I'm doing 2 at Athabasca University, which is all online courses, and they have both 1st year chems available.
Another thing to note from my experiences...courses at other Uni's/online courses tend to be MUCH easier. Won't say here because I don't want to brag, but trust me, especially in the case of Orgo, much easier to take it elsewhere.
Take it into consideration. After 1st/2nd year, I found doing mandatory/hard courses at other universities, be it in the summer/online, to be much better. Don't be one of those idiots that say, "Nah, I'm taking the traditional route and doing it the normal" if it means your grades suffer.
