Does God Exist? Some info on the event
Unless you have been walking around campus with your eyes closed, you'll notice that there are TONS of posters and chalked sidewalks with the event info and the question "Does God Exist?". Quite a nice marketing strategy of bombardment if you ask me

Here's some info:

EVENT : An academic debate on the topic, "Does God Exist?"
DATE : Thursday, October 19 2006
TIME : 7:00 pm
LOCATION : Chester New Hall, Lecture Hall 104

The debate will consist of a 25-minute presentation from each of the speakers and a 10-minute rebuttal, followed by a Q&A period from the audience.

The event is sponsored by both Campus for Christ and the McMaster Philosophy Society.

Looks like an interesting event... it costs $2.

The debate will be between two people:

Joe Boot
Position : Affirmative (Theist)

Joe Boot is an apologist and author of Why I Still Believe and Searching for Truth. Currently, Joe is the Executive Director of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries in Canada. His work with RZIM has taken him all over the world to more than 20 countries. He has addressed audiences at Eton College, Windsor, Oxford University, London School of Theology, University of Toronto, Waterloo University, and Forman University College in Pakistan. He lectures regularly at the RZIM summer school at Oxford.

David Hitchcock
Position : Negative (Atheist)

David Hitchcock is currently a professor at McMaster University. His research interests are in Theory of Argumentation (Informal Logic) as well as Greek Philosophy, including the work of ancient Greek philosophers (mainly Plato and Aristotle) on fallacies and the evaluation of arguments. He has been teaching philosophy at McMaster since 1968. He was acting Associate Dean of Humanities in 1977-78, and Chair of the Department of Philosophy in 1989-92.

probably.. its stupid... im sure they never actually answered the question.. so you pay 2 dollars and not even get an answer.. lol

if you think about it, there will never be an answer to that question because religion is based upon faith not facts... so either you believe or you dont... so the whole "Does God exist" question doesnt make sense...

this post is from 2006 - hopefully the chalk hasn't lasted 2 years! that'd be some impressive sidewalk chalk.

They do it every year, there is chalk on the ground now. At least there was last friday. I don't know who it was for though cause I learned to ignore the chalk in my first year.
