does OSAP cover the cost of books? and Does osap cover off-campus residence cost?
so yea does it or not? and how does that work? if it does cover textbook costs does that mean that i will have to wait until Mac gets my payment from osap to buy my books or can i just get them early?

Also does osap cover off-campus living? and by off-campus i mean independently away from my parents..

OSAP is a combination of grants and loans to help with paying for anything which you deem necessary for school. So yes, that includes, books, tuition and living expenses.

When you filled out the application, the approximate cost of books by that university was already calculated, so no, unfortunately they won't give you any extra money.. the amount of funding that's shown on your OSAP account now is what you'll be getting..

and for off-campus living costs, again, when you fill out your application, they would keep that in mind - you'll most likely get more funding, but it wouldn't cover the full cost.
I remember applying to my 3 universities last year, one of which wasn't within commuting distance, so when I filled out the "estimate OSAP application", I put that I would be living away from home - the estimation was about $2000 more than what I'm getting now, but definitely not enough for rent, food, laundry, phone, wi-fi, cable, etc.. for 8 months.

It depends on your program, all programs have different tuition. But with the whole 30% off thing, even engineers can afford most of them.

EDIT. Oh also it depends on your OSAP amount of course. I was assuming you get same amount as last year.

If your OSAP amount covers more than your actual tuition costs, then you will receive a cheque for the remainder.

You don't really get covered based on what you need -- you and your parents' income are assessed and you're given some amount... and thats it.
For the last 3 years I've only had like 1/3-1/2 of my tuition/expenses covered.
