dropping a course
hi everyone! ive been thinking about dropping physics 1b03, and the deadline for dropping the course without academic penalty is in 2.5 hours. im still unsure and was hoping someone could give me some insight on this.. ive had both of my midterms, each worth 15%, and i got 53% on one and 40% on the other. should i stay in the course and try to do really well on the exam? (worth 45%) or should i drop it and take the course again next year or in the summer? will having the course show up as 'cancelled' on my transcript be a big deal? im considering grad school once im done my undergrad.

How much did you study for those two midterms?

it depends if you need to get good marks in the class (to get into your desired program) or just pass. if you are just trying to pass, id say stay in it, but dont expect great marks

Are you keeping up with the class? Or is that all you did to prepare? (apart from capas, everyone seems to do those no matter what, but last minute)
Are you doing better or the same in other classes? D:

yeah, i understand whats going on in lecture and labs.. and going through the practice problems and old midterms, ive had minimal difficulty. i dont know, physics is probably just not my thing haha.
im doing better in my other courses. chem and physics are the two that i put the most time and work into, but im doing the worst in them lol. i guess i should just stick it out and study hardcore for the final

I don't know if you need it to get into a level two program or whatever but as said above, you dropping it won't make it any easier next year or whenever else you take it, so study really hard and get that passing grade.

dont worry. those midterms are hard even if you study. hughes is rape. had her first term and i felt confident going into midterms too but never did as well as i hoped. the way she lectures is just wtf. she has no notes and didnt write on the board and when she did, everyone was like wtf. the final is much harder btw.

Everything is easy with solutions nearby, music at hand, and plenty of time. Give yourself time constraints, no noise and a timeslot where its just you and a question with no outside help. If you can "ace" a previous midterm, but can't ace a current one, its not the material that's bad, its your study habits.
