Econ Minor?
Hi
This is probably a really stupid question but who do I contact about doing a minor in economics? The chair of economics? I dont know! The requirements say this:
- Although ECON 2G03 and 2H03 are not required for the Minor in Economics, most Level III and IV Economics courses have at least one of these courses as a prerequisite.
- COMMERCE 2FA3 may be substituted for ECON 2I03.
- COMMERCE 2QA3 (or another Statistics course equivalent to ECON 2B03) may be substituted for ECON 2B03.
- ECON 2CC3 may not be used to satisfy a minor in Economics.
24 units total
6 units ECON 1B03 and 1BB3
18 units Levels II, III, IV Economics with no more than six units from ECON 2A03, 2C03, 2D03, 2E03, 2F03, 2I03, 2J03, 2N03, 2P03, 2T03.
I'm in Commerce so I already have Econ 1B03 and 1BB3. Also it says that Commerce 2FA3 and 2QA3 count which I've already taken. COMM 2FA3 substitues ECON 2I03 so I assume that counts as 3 out of 6 units from the group listed above? What I'm a little confused about is does this mean that I can only take 6 units of 2nd year econ for the minor? Or does it just mean that out of those specific courses only 6 units are allowed but I can still take other second year econ? Does Econ 2H03 count? I know it's a prerequisite for 3rd year courses. Does Econ 2X03 count or other courses like 2P03 or whatever the sports econ code is from the summer. I'm confused. If it doesnt then so far I only have 12 units out of 24 I believe. Any insight on this or who to contact is much appreciated!
Thanks

it really isn't that complicated
Typical Commerce Student has the following Done:
Commerce 2QA3(Substituted for 2B03)
Commerce 2FA3(substituted for 2I03)
Commerce 2x03(Substituted for 2G03)
Econ 1b03
Econ 1bb3
so right off the bat 15/24 are already completed. So what you need to do is take 3 more economics courses. The only constraint to these three courses is that a maximum of two can consist of ECON 2A03, 2C03, 2D03, 2E03, 2F03, 2I03, 2J03, 2N03, 2P03, 2T03. So in my case I have Econ 2h03, Econ 2D03 and Econ 2j03 as my three.

If Commerce 2FA3 is substituted for 2I03, doesn't that mean you can only take 1 more course from that list?

oops, indeed only 1 out of the three could be taken from ECON 2A03, 2C03, 2D03, 2E03, 2F03, 2I03, 2J03, 2N03, 2P03, 2T03.

Thanks! I know its not complicated but I was just a little confused. For some reason the wording was throwing me off and making me think that those were the only second year courses you could take. My brain is a little fried right now. I just took two 3rd year accounting in the summer and the one now had a midterm yesterday and a final tomorrow. All I'm thinking about is accounting but I'm trying to plan my next year as well. Simple things just don't process right now. I'm taking ECON 2H03 during the year so I will have 18/24
Thanks for clearing it up.
