Egypt: Mubarak Resigns
It took 17 days, but he's OUT! Moral of the story: Never underestimate the power of the people

Anyone else finds it highly suspicious that a few days ago the military threatened a coup if Mubarak didn't remedy the situation, that Mubarak yesterday made it clear that he has no intention of stepping down, and that today, we hear Omar Sulieman telling us that Mubarak has "decided" to step down and that the military will be in charge until elections in September?

I personally don't think Mubarak had any choice in the matter...I think the military pushed him out.

If that's the case, good. That's how it should be-the military serves the people of the country, not the politicians.

Either way.

I think so too. The details won't be known for months though. The only reason why it happened that way, I think, is to protect his so-called dignity and everything. Especially since the army and all Egyptians for that matter, didn't want it to seem that the US, or CIA, or any country who spoke on the matter had any hand in the decision taken. That, and the fact that he was being stubborn till yesterday, at which point the army came in and silently just told him to leave.

He's lost his credibility, any popularity he had, and dignity. I, on the other hand, don't expect him to go out in public for a VERY long time

Lol yep; it IS known as the country of beautiful women. Too bad almost everything else in the country has gone to shit since Chavez got elected

EDIT: But LOL I wouldn't recommend living there right now, especially if you can only speak English. Insecurity has been pretty high the past few years; kidnappings and murders are everyday occasions.
