Email Question
I was just wondering, do I have [email protected] or is it just [email protected] ster.ca?
I HATE long emails, and I've seen lots of folks with the short one.
How do I switch it, if possible?

It does work if you send it to [email protected]
However, all of my e-mails get forwarded from my mac e-mail to my g-mail so I don't typically encounter that problem. OH and my gmail address is WAY longer than my mcmaster one.

The McMaster e-mail isn't 100% reliable. I work at Career Services and they e-mail me constantly via my mac e-mail. Numerous times fellow employees e-mail me and I do not receive it.... and they're pretty important e-mails.

Yeah, when people send me emails to [email protected], I usually end up receiving them on my gmail account. When people send me emails to [email protected] , I end up receiving them on my McMaster undergraduate email. From what I understand though, they're basically the same thing. UTS has two McMaster email servers. One of them is @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca which is for undergraduate students and the other is @univmail.cis.mcmaste r.ca for staff, graduate students and alumni.

Is it a good idea to use the forwarding to gmail thing.. or just stick with checking the mcmaster e-mail?

I use the forwarding option. The problem is that like Nino said, not all of the emails you get are forwarded. It depends on what email address they use, which means you still need to check your mcmaster email every now and then.

Hrrm. Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the McMaster e-mail. I remember trying to e-mail a TA but he'd never respond so I had to go straight to the prof. But turns out he just wasn't getting them. Lame business that.
I remember my @mcmaster.ca didn't work for a time, maybe a few more days?

Ohh makes sense.. I tried logging in.. it seems pretty.. umm basic? Don't know if that's a good thing. But yeah, you're right Greg, it'd be a good idea to check both. thanks.
Hmm.. I guess so.. I'll try e-mail-ing myself and I'll see what happens

I just tried to send myself mail at the @muss.cis.mcmaster.ca account, and it returned the email with the error "Mailbox disabled for this recipient", even though I'm on the website logged into my mail, looking at the mailboxes. Sending mail to the @mcmaster.ca works fine though, so far.
